Apple will launch the next iPhone on Oct. 4, a technology blog said today, citing what it called “sources close to the situation.” As it happened, there was no White iPhone 5 after all, but the company did announce the iPhone 4S. The launch of the Verizon iPhone 4 failed to dazzle in the spring when hordes of AT&T users opted not to break contracts and jump ship to the CDMA carrier known for better coverage, especially in many rural areas and key markets such as San Francisco and New York. Apple followed a similar trend last year, when they introduced the A4 chip alongside the original iPad and integrated it into the iPhone 4 several months later.
